This week I am writing to you from Greenwood, SC, the land of southern accents, comfort food, and beautiful views from the lake. We are teeing it up in the Self Regional Healthcare Foundation Women’s Health Classic at the Links at Stoney Point.  This is our biggest tournament all year with a purse of $250K and the winner will take home almost 40K.  They do an outstanding job with hospitality this week with pig roasts, the 13th hole party scene, and a concert and fireworks show.   The community of Greenwood really does an amazing job of supporting us when we come to town.

The golf course is right on Lake Greenwood and the community reminds me a lot of Waterlefe.  With how supportive all of the residents are and the relaxed feel of being on the water, it truly is a special place to play on tour.

This tournament is a four-day tournament with the first day of play starting on Thursday with a cut after Friday to see who plays into the weekend. This week I made my first cut for the 2016 Symetra Tour Season. With a week of poor ball striking I was able to make the cut in the biggest tournament of the season, which leaves me very excited for what is yet to come.   It proves that you don’t necessarily have to hit the ball great to get to play into the weekend, but it also shows me that when my game is on, I can be in contention.  So for the next few months to come, it means things can only get better!!  I did however have a pretty good week with my short game and putting.  A few missed putts and chips here and there, but that is the game we play.  It is a game where after we hit the shot there isn’t a thing we can do about where it goes or what happens to the ball. All we can do is prepare to hit the next shot to the best of our ability!

Now it is off to Charlotte, NC for the Symetra Tour Classic at Raintree Country Club. Be sure to tune in online and check out live scoring throughout the weekend.

For those of you who are tech and social media savvy you can see pictures of where I go and what I do by following me through my social media accounts.  Facebook: search for Ericka K Schneider or Ericka Schneider Golf . Instagram: @ek_schneider

You will see pictures from this past week of me helping with junior clinics, visiting the Burton Center for Disabilities and Special Needs, and the pig roast they put on for players and their host families with some stellar views from the lake!
